Wellbeing Activities
for Spring!

As the days lengthen and the sun becomes a more frequent presence, the arrival of spring is a source of great excitement. The world is coming back to life, with the return of sunlight and longer evenings creating a sense of renewal.

This time of year is marked by the beauty of blooming flowers, providing a welcome contrast to the darkness of winter.

With the weather improving, now is an ideal opportunity to establish healthy relaxation routines and enjoy outdoor activities.

Below are some favorite activities to engage in during this delightful season.

Walking:

Isn't it amazing how spending time in nature can be so good for us? There's just something special about walking through a spring woodland, don't you think? I absolutely adore seeing all those fresh green leaves popping up on the trees - it's like nature's way of saying hello! And let me tell you, if you ever come across a bluebell woodland, consider yourself lucky - it's like finding a hidden treasure!

I had the pleasure of visiting The Valley Gardens in Windsor Great Park this week to admire the stunning Rhododendrons & Azaleas in full bloom.

If you're looking for a little slice of paradise, now is the perfect time to visit a local botanical garden and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature. Trust me, you won't regret it!

Farm Visits:

So, for as long as I can remember, my family and I have made it a tradition to visit a nearby farm for their lambing days.

Let me tell you, there's nothing quite like the feeling of holding a sweet little lamb in your arms - it's like instant stress relief!

Unfortunately, with everything going on with Covid, a lot of farms have had to make some changes, including our go-to farm no longer having sheep.

I haven't had the chance to see what other farms are up to this year, but I highly suggest keeping an eye out for next year's lambing season.

Trust me, it's an experience you won't want to miss!

Soaking Up the Sun

Whether you're out in the garden, chilling on a deckchair, or hanging out in the park, it's always a good idea to blow away those cobwebs and feel alive!

I do not feeling great cooped up inside all day. I always need to crack open a window, rain or shine! But as soon as I have the chance, I'm out there breathing in that fresh air and feeling rejuvenated.

Even if I'm not in the mood for a long walk, just finding a cozy spot to sit outside makes a world of difference.

My mom's go-to spot for soaking up some warmth and sunshine is her greenhouse. Even in the winter, she bundles up, grabs her deck chair and a cup of tea, and enjoys the slightly warmer temperatures.

She may look a bit funny all bundled up, but that extra bit of light and fresh air really does wonders for her mood.

So, why not take a cue from my mom and find your own little outdoor oasis? Whether it's a park bench, a cozy corner in your garden, or a sunny spot in your greenhouse, getting some sunshine and fresh air is sure to lift your spirits.

Bringing the Outdoors Indoors

If you're like me and struggle to stay indoors, why not bring the beauty of Spring into your home.

If you're lucky enough to have a gorgeous garden, I'm totally jealous.

You probably have a great selection of flowers and branches to decorate with.

For those of us without a garden, local supermarkets and garden centres have plenty of spring flowers you can arrange in vases. And don't forget spring bulbs or potted flowers.

I love going out into fields and hedgerows to find things to bring home. Just remember to be cautious and not take anything that's endangered or on someone's property.

Look for branches that have fallen during bad weather - they make great decorations.

Let's bring a little bit of Spring into our homes!

Some Fun Spring Craft Projects

With all the beautiful flowers blooming this time of year, why not try preserving them by pressing or hammering them? It's a fun way to keep your favorite blooms around a little longer.

If you don't have a flower press, no worries! You can easily find one at a craft store for a reasonable price. Or you can use a stack of heavy books with some absorbent paper in between the pages - old phone directories work great for this!

Once your flowers are pressed and dried, you can get creative with how you use them. Decorate cards, notepaper, pictures, candles, paperweights, or even add them to your jewelry pieces or resin crafts.

And don't be afraid to try hammering your flowers too! It may sound a bit crazy, but it's a simple way to transfer the colors and shapes onto paper or fabric for some unique results.

I've personally tried it with colorful pansies and it turned out great! All you need is a sturdy hammer, some paper or fabric, absorbent paper, and of course, your flowers or leaves.

Give it a try and see what beautiful creations you can come up with!
