Rachel Freegard

Rachel is a Wokingham based Arts & Crafts Tutor who is super passionate about the positive role that creativity plays in terms of our mental health and wellbeing. This was particularly important during her childhood when she was a child carer for family members suffering from PTSD and depression.

Creating has been part of her life from a very early age and became a lifeline in her own mental health journey. In the early 2000s, whilst recovering from a rough bout of burn out and depression, she was encouraged by her ceramics tutor to think about passing her skills on to others.

Rachel's teaching journey started soon after and she has been providing all kinds of creative workshops since 2014 for local Recovery Colleges, Adult Education centres and charities ever since. She is the brainchild behind Create! and is thrilled to have her fellow team members on board to assist in making this new venture a success.

When she's not whipping up crafty things at home (and cleaning up the subsequent mess!), walking in the woods is where she feels happiest.

Founder & Director

Francesca Crossland

Francesca is passionate about all aspects of well-being, but also a qualified Mental Health First Aider. Her journey started after she was diagnosed with CPTSD back in 2019 and received treatment through the Berkshire Traumatic Stress Service. Volunteering with Create! is a very personal way for her to give back and support others who may have faced similar challenges.

Outside of her corporate career, Francesca also volunteers part time with SAFE, a local charity that rescues horses. Ever the animal lover she has 2 cats (Greebo and Mochi). Outside of this you can usually find her in the kitchen baking up a storm, at the gym making up for it, or curled up with a good book.

Director

Adam Green

Adam is a professional based in the North West of England and has a passion for governance, compliance and law. He has worked in-house and for a range of legal firms over the last 15 years and has experience in the charity sector, having worked as a trustee.

His roles include being a contract manager for a young people's charity and a journalist. Adam writes prolifically for several publications on interesting topics such as politics, the law, mental health, and burnout.

He made a significant contribution to the publication winning the Commercial Awareness award in 2021. When he is not working he likes to travel and has visited Montenegro, Greece, mainland Spain, and the Canaries.

Director

Clare Beech

Clare has lived in the Wokingham area for over 25 years. During this time she has been actively involved with local schools and charities. Her belief in the therapeutic benefits of art has been reinforced by her observation of its ability to enhance feelings of positivity, self-worth, and resilience.

Clare's professional journey began as a secondary school teacher. More recently, Clare served as the Communications Manager at St Crispin's School, where she gained valuable experience that now supports her role as Social Media Manager at Create!

In her leisure time, Clare loves to read and travel: "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page." Saint Augustine.
